This is older, but I uncovered it on my Facebook memories and couldn’t not post this given that college or university football time in Oklahoma is in this article and I get to pay attention to angry supporters yell at each other about all the crucial football matters.

  1. “Can you stop sitting in front of the computer, staring at the screen? Do something with your life!”
My father, while sitting watching football on the TV…

  2. Coming from an Okie in Norman…totally get it.

“Oh you’re from Norman?! Boomer Sooner!!” And I just laugh uncomfortably and mention that I don’t really care lol

  3. I really love this joke, and the amount of people in the comments that don’t seem to get the joke is depressing. I don’t really get how it’s going over this many people’s heads that it’s not directly about WoW or sports.

  4. I too am an Okie who hates how vitriolic people can get about college football. Whether it be Bedlam or the Red River Rivalry I really can’t wait until the Big 12 championship is behind us.

Though just to irritate some Oklahoma football fans: PISTOLS FIRING!

  5. I hate when people refer to a sports team as if they are on it. “Damn it Johnson, we would do so much better without you. We probably aren’t going to the playoffs again.”

  6. Yesss. And not just sports, this can apply to literally anything you aren’t interested in. I don’t enjoy being brushed off when talking about something I love when the person I’m talking to isn’t interested, but I also totally understand. Listening to someone talk at you about a topic you couldn’t give two shits about is really annoying. Especially if there isn’t a way you can tell them you aren’t interested without them having a negative reaction. Tough tough ๐Ÿ™

  7. I had a friend who did bodybuilding for a few years and it’s ALL HE EVER TALKED ABOUT. Every day. The gains. The diet. The competitions and shows. The exercises. The goals.

  8. I mean IDK. I like when people are passionate about what they enjoy. I may not watch football on my own time but it doesn’t stop me from enjoying the infectious excitement when I’m around my family and they’re watching it. This just feels super condescending and probably not something I’d want to associate myself with.

  9. But how will Oklahoma state fans let all OU fans know that they still suck even though they won the game… I have seen the Video of OU’s QB waving and plating the flag in Ohio State like 67 times on my feed in the last 24 hours. Of course I’m TU alumni so do I even get any say in the matter? Anyways good to see another Okie here in /wow that is not impressed with the College football fans our state has.

  10. All this debate over WoW vs sports, and here I am feeling a slight annoyance over his dismissal of the Monk master-class. REEEEEEE!

  11. Thanks to this bit, I once went on a half hour rant about wow with one of my coworkers because he wouldn’t shut up about the Packers.

  12. I like both? Can there be a middle ground between gaming and sports? I grew up with Atari and spent many quarters in Aladin’s Castle, Showbiz and Chuck E Cheese. I also loved Sierra Online titles, Ultima 1, 2 and 3. The Zork series anyone? Incredible.

At the same time, I’m a huge sports fan. My first memory of sports is Hank Aaron breaking Babe Ruth’s home run record. I was 3! Hank Heron! Hank Heron! It’s related. We have professional gaming now, where people follow the top players on streams, or tv now (tbs or tnt?).

I’m new to that, but I still follow the big 4 sports in America, and I follow football in the relevant continents. I think it’s great that we have people filling a venue to watch teams go at it for video games. I feel the same thrill from watching those streams as I do for college teams and pro teams. It’s the ultimate reality TV. We don’t know how it’s going to turn out until the finish!

For the stat nerd, pro sports will have you occupied for your lifetime (especially baseball). So many intricacies in that stupid, boring ass sport, but I love it because of that!

Stats. We’re all obsessed with stats. Be it gaming or sports. It’s the same damn thing. Unfortunately, I don’t have time to level my 5 wow characters to present day acceptable-ness because of 3 little people who take up the majority of my time. Sports? I just look at sportscenter for some scores and that’s all I need.

Have I rambled enough? Love you all fuckers!

  13. I love sports and I love wow….just embrace being a nerd….

Sports and video games are the same things, just big kids rustling each other’s jimmies.

  14. Sports nerds are the worst.

It’s annoying as it is when people go overboard with WoW talk, but when you get 10+ people in the office talking about sports nonstop, because there are SO MANY OF THEM, it gets really fucking old really fucking fast.

  15. I am an Okie, I play WoW and I’m obsessed with sports; especially college football. This post makes me feel like I might be the only one haha. Go Pokes by the way!

  16. I Don’t get this attitude, i like both. I’m not sure how many sports fans go up to strangers and talk to them in depth about football for no reason, but i bet its none.

This guy must be one of those people who hear 2 other people discussing sports in their general vicinity and shout out something stupid like “yay sportsball am i right guys” just to be an awkward shit.

  17. You know, to some extent, I like hearing about things that I’m not interested in from people who are. It’s a chance to learn. It can be too much sometimes though.

  18. I live in Oklahoma lol. This is true. I am also one of the crazy nfl fans but I love wow. Can’t wait to start playing again.

  19. Nick Swardson did this year’s and years ago about his nephew talking about pokemon and then he described the active ingredients in the shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom.

  20. I’ve got 9 toons to 110 and finally hit legion content with my 10th (a death knight) on Sunday and totally forgot to watch the 49ers get crushed. I’m ok with that.
